I think part of the reason why people are flocking to Chappelle Roan beyond her music being incredible is she gives people permission to dress up and have absolutely no chill, be incredibly queer in public, as well as be an example of how an "overnight success" can take a decade to happen

I learned during the pandemic that capitalism does not give a shit about your reasonable concerns to political chaos, hate crimes, and many people dying. The bills still arrive, rent still needs to be paid, work still needs to be done. Be kind to yourself. One thing at a time.

There is some real shit going on in the world right now and normal awful shit going on in people's personal lives. The only way I'm not feeling hopeless and completely overwhelmed is by focusing on one or two things at a time I can control. Make yourself breakfast. Walk a dog. Call a representative.

I am going through some Level 8 stuff, but the program helped me set reasonable goals and gave me tools to build confidence, maintain a sense of agency, and focus on the things I can control. I highly recommend it if you have Aetna insurance.

If you have Aetna insurance and want help with anxiety or depression, the AbleTo program provides 8 sessions with a therapist and 7 sessions with a behavior coach that are fully covered (no copay). They have staff who are people of color and you can ask for a new therapist if you don't connect.

Last time this exterminator was here, he told me about treating a millionaire's infested home, dating a Korean woman whose family rejected him, and that I would be a good mom despite what happened to me as a kid and bad past relationships. He also filled my cabinets with gel bait that smells awful.
