The debate was bad but he’s done lots of public events since then and been basically fine. Old, but basically fine. But at this point it’s insane claims like “he can’t campaign” or “he can’t finish a sentence” he has to rebut, media-driven claims with no basis in reality.
You need to either work with the media biases at play or find an actual way to surpass them. The media doesn't seem to give a shit about state rallies by themselves and neither does the pure dismissal in the ABC interview solve anything.
Obama had a *terrible* debate.
It's clear Biden has things fully together, even if he processes them a bit slowly at times because he's old and he's never been articulate. His whole political life has been full of "gaffes."
These sentiments are in bad faith and run counter to observable reality.
What percentage of voters see any of those events? What most will see is the convention and the second debate, which both will be late at night. No evidence he will be good at those. Even if he was it might not be enough. He needed to go 3 for 3.
All the more ridiculous because it's the media's job to know about these campaign events and inform us - yet here they are acting as if they aren't even happening every day.
Everyone's trying to announce what everyone else thinks; Biden's actual abilities have become fully irrelevant, it's just a guessing game of if him leaving helps or hurts. And nobody really knows!
How much airtime was spent on Biden taking drugs for the debate? Did any of the people absolutely certain that was happening lose any credibility over it?
