Listen, if the Biden campaign wanted to quell concerns about his age, they would have put him out there, like in the post-debate pressroom, a rally, an event at the Stonewall monument, a national address, a medal of honor ceremony, a meeting with governors, another rally, and televised interview.

I’m happy to say ratfuck as many times as it takes for people to recognize that expressing their opposition to Trump through the medium of constant attacks on Biden is just goddamned dumb.

The logic is circular. Biden's infirmity is the story. Other things can't be the story, because they're not the story. Why is Biden the story? Because he's the story. If the threat of Trump is the story, why isn't it already the story? And on and on.

We spend dozens of hours per week inside a hallucinatory bubble in which factual reality provides little or no check on how the world is depicted to us.

This is the fundamental problem we’re facing, with Biden, with Trump, with politics. We spend many hours a day consuming media. But the content of that media is increasingly determined not by WHAT IS TRUE, but by WHAT EARNS AUDIENCE ATTENTION. Factoids are harvested and rebuilt into those stories.

there's the larger question about why "a couple anonymous donors speaking on background says something bad about the candidate" is considered to be newsworthy enough to peg a front-page, push-notification-generating story to. Could easily do the same to Trump!

The debate was bad but he’s done lots of public events since then and been basically fine. Old, but basically fine. But at this point it’s insane claims like “he can’t campaign” or “he can’t finish a sentence” he has to rebut, media-driven claims with no basis in reality.

I mean, he's had public events and media appearances in four swing states since the debate. That's not "incapable of campaigning," whatever you think about the substance of the campaign or its talking points.

There is a large contingent of people who collectively are powerful enough to make Biden's election untenable, and that's what their efforts are directed towards. I am willing to bet their efforts likely will be successful, but they're offering an alternative that doesn't reduce risk

By… what? It’s like people’s neuroses have so overwhelmed their reason that they’ve forgotten how politicians are. “The president gave a few clumsy answers in an interview, he must resign” is not a viable standard. We are absolutely destroying ourselves with this nonsense. What are we even doing

Just like none of the bold investigators backfilling Joe Biden's feeble debate performance with punchy anonymous quotes have ever figured out why Trump was rushed to Walter Reed, claimed he wanted a spur-of-the-moment weekend checkup, and a year later declared that he had NOT had a series of strokes

It is absolutely, 100% a mass hysteria event. A complete and all-consuming loss of perspective, because all of you get all of your ideas from these internet and media narratives and refuse to admit it

Biden didn’t get up and perform athletic feats but it seems like a pretty normal interview from an old guy? This is the single greatest moment of political derangement I have ever witnessed in this country. The president gives a normal interview and everyone says… he must join Nixon and resign?

Biden has been the most successful progressive president in half a century and the current “progressive” line is that he should immediately resign in disgrace at the insistence of the New York Times. Can you not see how this is an insane hysteria? How social media has completely broken you

I don't take the age thing seriously. THEY PICK A LIE ABOUT EVERY DEM, and the press knows it's some BS but plays along. They know that the other guy is worse in every way, especially his brain. They turned being a war hero into a liability against a fortunate son draft dodger.

It wasn't *that* long ago that slip-ups like this were used to argue that Obama was an empty suit whose lack of intelligence was being masked by the liberal media - a theory that had a teeny tiny bit of racist subtext if you look closely. The difference is mainstream media didn't bite on that.
