There's no longer any ceiling to how wackadoodle Republican lawsuits can go. As @elliemargolis.bsky.social has flagged, the sovereign state of Missouri, being unable to invade or embargo New York, has instead sued it before SCOTUS to try to aid Trump, because ... reasons. ago.mo.gov/wp-content/u...
It's probably designed to force an intergovernmental dispute up to the Supreme Court so they can rule that red state laws count more than any blue state law and automatically Trump them in a 6-3 ruling.
Yale Law prof Jed Rubenfeld has been defending the suit on the other site (even claiming credit for the idea).
Even if this wasn't legally ridiculous, there is no way SCOTUS will sign off on this b/c it would mean WAY more work for them.
When you go crazy, all crazies think now's their time. No thank you Supreme Court. The movie will be, "Dude, Where's the Standing", sequel to "Dude, Where's my Car"?
Is that “prayer for relief” language a legal term of art in Missouri or are they just openly flaunting their disbelief in the separation of church and state?
“If laws apply to some persons, but not all, then laws should apply to some states, but not all.”
A workable system of Federalism would likely be another casualty of a second Trump administration.
