Indeed. It's ok and natural to mourn another loss of what we were fooled into believing was a marginally functional institution, but the upshot is that we know what we are dealing with now, and we have time to regroup and continue to hold the line.

You all weren’t joking when I got back on here yesterday. People have really gone full throttle on “the camps” discourse on here, as opposed to considering the “when we fight we win” discourse and as a social movements person I am a little gagged, in the worst way.

There's no longer any ceiling to how wackadoodle Republican lawsuits can go. As @elliemargolis.bsky.social has flagged, the sovereign state of Missouri, being unable to invade or embargo New York, has instead sued it before SCOTUS to try to aid Trump, because ... reasons.

I refuse to read any of these articles, waste of time. POTUS has thousands of people to do his job, he can sleep and golf most of the day and the executive branch will run itself, as long as the staff is competent, ethical and well-managed. POTUS makes the big decisions and takes responsibility.

It really is an indictment on the fundamentally unserious nature of our political press that so much of this feeding frenzy seems to be built around nothing more than “old man gets tired after doing a lot of tiring things, but also has some speaking issues when that happens.”

This is a fantastic approach. We need to see more Kamala out there doing what she does best. I really miss having her muscular cross-examination skills in the Senate to tear into reluctant witnesses in hearings. She can, and should flex those muscles in her campaigning role.

Leaked internal polling from the Democratic Party shows Biden has lost 2% of voters in swing states since the debate.

He’s running behind Harris and Whitmer in head to heads vs Trump in virtually all swing states.

I mean, if you're gonna use our Constitutional rule of law to establish a dictatorship, this is how you do it very skillfully and in a high-minded way which makes enough legal experts concede that there is a certain undeniable logic to the decision, viewed through a particular lens.

Yeah I realize I read that wrong this morning as well. The ruling puts all the power into the judiciary (which, as we know now can be captured rather easily) to decide whether the sitting or former president is a king or not. It's a partisan ruling entirely.

I love microclimates. Havasu Creek into the Grand Canyon, and the campground there is a temperate riparian zone with cottonwood trees. In the summer the campground is cool, but when you walk 30' out of it, the humidity drops and the heat rises and you remember you're in a desert environment.

There are two elements to the immunity decision that are particularly extreme in a way that many will miss: (1) motive is irrelevant and (2) immune acts are not just excluded from prosecution, they’re excluded from evidence. /1
