Writers: Challenge the agreement/contract that your publishers present you with. They'll start off saying this is our contract, take it or leave it, but it's negotiable. Every contract is. 'Boilerplate' means this is where you start, not where you finish. And learn what 'subsidiary rights' means.

I still feel tired & creatively flat sometimes, but it's only sometimes now. This is a reminder to take of yourself before burnout gets bad. The longer you "push through" it, the longer it takes you to bounce back & heal. I say this while acknowledging that I ignored my own advice. Don't be me!

It's the anniversary of my burnout. This time last year, I hit the wall and realized I HAD to stop and rest. I resigned my job on Fable, which was wrenching, and moved to a new country, new town, new life entirely. A year on, I'm doing much better. I love my new job and new life. ...
