Blu-rays specifically feel like a crime given that they store more than enough data to still be relevant, but more specifically you can frisbee one across a carpet and it will be fine but a dvd would be unusable. It's a very good storage medium for movies, tv series and entire drm-free discographies
I was shopping for an all-region DVD player last year and it occurred to me to buy two. One is staying in its box in the event that the other breaks down. I’ve got a huge collection of DVDs/BluRays and I’ll be buying up as many as I can in the near future.
