The juxtaposition of these images is...really quite something (might use this in my class on disability, if that's okay).

I saw this as someone who is very dissatisfied with how this election is going down and deeply wishes we had other options (for many, many reasons). Separate from that, though, i look forward to a time when making this kind of reference (a stock image of a walker?! really?!) is seen for what it is.

I wish the knee-jerk reaction to this wasn't to express offense that cognitive unfitness is being equated with physical disability. We can be critical of the assumption that having a disability disqualifies someone from the presidency, but there have to be better ways.

Everyone is always afraid to say why people like Trump or Marie Le Pen have some level of popularity and it’s just that there’s a lot of people in the world who believe in racism. You end up with these goofy ass explanations for Trump where it’s NAFTA or shit and it’s like no you know what it is

This is the part that drives me up a wall. I can’t tell if it’s willful ignorance or desire for *drama* (or both), but someone on here described it as treating the nomination like a fantasy draft, and UGH.

This majestic chonk is headed back to Ann Arbor today and I could not be more excited to be absolutely covered in cat fur at all times and no matter how many lint rollers I stash throughout my house/car/office.

This beautiful, devastating article by Francesca Mari on memory, grief, and family has me sobbing, but is well worth a read (I grew up with Frannie and she captures her father’s brand of gruff devotion so, so well). (Gift link)

Yup. I once got in an argument with my dad and tried to *very gently* remind him that I am in polisci (theory, but still). His response “yeah, well I watch msnbc” 🫠

My 79 yo dad also texted in a panic. My repeated reassurances that 1) debates in June are largely meaningless, and 2) very little is decided based on a debate haven’t helped (he spends 80% of his free time watching msnbc)

And by sort-of Canadian, I mean I have citizenship, but proof of that got lost somewhere in Nova Scotia thanks to the intricacies of Canadian immigration bureaucracy, the pandemic, and moving. Anyway, it’s next on the to-to list.

I barely follow hockey, but as a sort-of Canadian, I still balk at the idea of any team outside the original 6 and Canada (or, at the very least, somewhere cold) winning the Stanley Cup.

I really need to stop saving all the home, appointment, medical and miscellaneous tasks and phone calls for a day in which I also need to do work. I am one (poorly organized, but singular) human, I do not know how parents do this.

can I ask who you went to for botox (or, more specifically, how you got it covered)? I got it done on my jaw, and it was amazing, but I paid out of pocket and really can't afford it regularly

If you are a certain kind of nerd and need an escape, I heartily recommend HBO's "Ren Faire." And by certain kind of nerd, I mean the kind who may or may not have been obsessed with the Black Point Renaissance Pleasure Faire ca. 1993-96 (ahem) but also enjoyed Succession.

As a shorter person (5'3") the Sayl is the only one I've found that doesn't leave my feet dangling (it also helps that it's cheaper than many of the "fancier" models). I have the Aeron A at work and loathe it.

Yes. It seems to be that + roomba technology (LiDAR). I love my robovac (agador) dearly, but I wouldn’t let that tech near anything carrying a human.

Yes, exactly! There should absolutely be transport chairs (with well-paid human attendants), self-controlled options, and accessible options for the many many people who do not want to (or cannot for whatever reason) walk long distances with luggage and kids and everything else.
