On the upside, the new direct IRS free file program has officially been opened up to all states* and DC starting next year. (home.treasury.gov/news/press-r...)

* all states unless some GOP gov refuses to let your state have it out of spite, I suppose?

Because when -- not if -- the garbage machine completely hallucinates your total tax obligation, you will be the one liable for any penalties the IRS levies on you unless you shell out even more money over and above TurboTax's already high fees.

Keep in mind when reading this story: "I relied upon the software to do my taxes for me and it calculated them incorrectly" is not automatically a defense to an IRS investigation and you will be liable for any penalties... unless you pay for TurboTax's "audit protection" service

Siri and Stomp like to plop down and watch me being busy cleaning and bustling about. Pretty sure I'm often some sort of entertaining human aquarium exhibit for these cutest black vulture kids (and our other birds), who seem to enjoy observing me as much as I do them.

It took 10 years before a doctor told me they have a pill for nightmares. I was there for benzos and she casually said "and this to stop nightmares." "... the fucking what. Full pause. What." I was so excited about that she had no issue with the benzo. Was clear I was suffering.

My routine is to say the drug name, make a face, and say I just don’t trust it no matter what people say. No, I don’t think I’d ever want to take that! Seems like a scam. They suggest something else, I say “that makes me <symptom>” they *always* end up pushing the original drug on me.

The thing is, the Grand Canyon very clearly WASN’T made like that, because it has a V-shaped cross section, very consistent with slow erosion. The Scablands canyons though have a *square* cross-section just like when a river overflow cuts through the beach and runs down to the ocean
