Humans are tribal, and to a degree that means fitting in is hardwired. Add in the internet allowing us to both insulate from other opinions and hear our opinions back, and then stir in a bunch of people for whom money/power rides on manipulating what people see. A recipe for disaster

This, but also, not everyone can tolerate being bad at something for long enough to develop skill. Tolerance for failure is an underappreciated requirement for getting good at something.

I am rarely willing, but I do my absolute best creative work if I stay up and push past that "bodies need sleep" limiter. Wired and Tired shuts down all the limits I put on myself and lets my brain make connections and fly.

Did you get hit by the thunderstorm Tues afternoon? Huntsville lost power to most residences, and I lost the top of one of our sweetgums and an ash sapling that kept the sweetgum out of the roof and windows.

Masques by WR Gingell is free today. It was the first book I read by her, and might be my favorite, and certainly led me to buying her back catalog to the weeping dismay of my book budget.

Machete goes wooooosh clunk. Chainsaw sings and growls. Has the same feeling of power as a shotgun. Shotgun is the king of shootie weapons but chainsaw is the vibration and the growl.

I am spending a quiet day before Passover begins painting a pair of ocean-themed jeans for my daughter. The medium is actually an active dye, rather than acrylic, so the jeans will take the color and pattern without loosing their soft natural fiber texture.

I like to make my peanut butter cookies half brown sugar and half white sugar for a little extra depth of flavor, and be sure to use Peter Pan or Jif or your favorite brand but not a fancy organic no sugar stir type. And try sprinkling a little flake salt on the top

Just got a news alert saying Joann Fabrics is going into bankruptcy due to decreasing demand. Article fails to say that it was purchased by a private equity firm a while ago and recently went public and is carrying $2.4 billion in debt. Private equity strikes again.

I generally look at Patreon as investing in the person over the product? I support mostly authors/musicians tho, where having steady grocery money means that they can keep on doing their art and I can keep on consuming their art.
