Trump also doesn't wield religion enough (read: hardly at all) to be an effective fascist in the US. Christianity is too embedded in the history of this country to achieve fascism without it.

Social media has turned everyone into broadcasters. People have much greater social reach than they did in the 50s. Meaning that when someone repeats a propaganda message they heard, that second-order transmission hits more people than if they were just, you know, chatting with co-workers.
