Zulli was an incredible artist with a fantastic aesthetic sense. If you never saw his work on TMNT, it’s such a rich look and so different than anything else. He will be missed.

We lost Michael Zulli today. Beautiful, lyrical, mystical storyteller, he was part of the BW Boom of the 80s with his PUMA BLUES, he drew some gorgeous stuff for SANDMAN, and a startlingly fun book about Alice Cooper. All that’s just for starters. Some people, you think will always be out there.

I’m curious about the opening of the 2024 Olympics. France went so far over the top last time they hosted. Will they go full Cirque du Soleil or will there just be a string of teenage girls in black sweaters carrying glasses of wine and rolling their eyes? “You’re in Paris, that’s enough for you”

It has something to do with old Slavic self-governing longhouses. A little community that looked after itself and its local environment. It’s a word with a bunch of context, and that’s as much as I know.

Gene Kranz, the big block of a dude played by Ed Harris, the chief flight officer? He was all business for the whole time of crisis. See Ed wipe a tear and rub his nose when the capsule was safe? He does that because Gene did that. Also Gene’s wife made him that vest he always wears.

Also a punishing lack of Wookiees. I was promised the Wookiee homeworld as a nerd larva, and I would settle for a sizeable clan or gang or mess of cousins. Having them breeze across the screen and then vanish like Sasquatch WILL NOT DO.

The implication that that derelict spaceship may have been sitting on that planetoid for centuries and they accidentally woke up the science version of an unknowable eldritch horror is a big part of what makes the original film work!
