Will always remember that this guy dug up something I wrote for my college newspaper at 19 and tweeted that it was evidence I supported the Iraq war.
That something: a satirical essay arguing that the invasion had provided a much-needed boost to the funeral industry.

It’s a problem that we’ve been trying to explain away for more than 3 years, leading to a situation where the incumbent, having just confirmed everyone’s worst fears, is on track to lose to a lunatic fascist despite a strong economy and falling crime. I think we have to acknowledge that and move on.

There’s no putting the genie back. The debate (and actually, the Biden team response) flipped me from a Biden apologist to a Harris enthusiast. I don’t believe the polls showing 75% of the public thinks he’s too old — the first complaint I hear from any Normal Person — are wrong or can change.

Either the Democrats will run Biden, or he'll say he can't continue the campaign and Democrats will run Harris. Either is newsworthy, but neither is nearly as radical as running a pro-insurrection convicted felon with legal immunity he's eager to use.

Lots of bizarro world denialism on here about how concerning Biden's state and behavior were. "74 percent of voters view him as too old for the job, up five percentage points since the debate." www.nytimes.com/2024/07/03/u... 74%! 59% among Democrats!

I'm arguing against despair and accepting right-wing propaganda depicting themselves as tough guys. You, on the other hand, are pushing fatalistic whiny roll-over bullshit.

Back in college, a group I was with in San Diego (there were about six of us) got in a Verbal Altercation with a group of about 30 skinheads who were yelling at a mixed-race couple. Scary, right? Well -- and I don't recommend this -- a guy I was with pulled a knife and said "let's go." They cowered.

The thing about Heritage and other MAGA goons is they're literally afraid to ride public transit and wet their pants a little anytime a car backfires. That's not to say they can't be scary, but let's keep in mind that they're also pathetic and there are only so many coked-up Proud Boys.

Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

To me it is understandable but nonetheless "cope" to dismiss concerns as the product of a bad-faith media frenzy -- and not Biden confirming people's worst fears in a debate that his campaign had cast as a chance to reset the race, not to "just" lose a couple points in the wake of.

I started out thinking Biden had to stay in the race. Over the last week I've been persuaded the best path forward (there no *great* paths) for saving our democracy is for Biden to step down and for Kamala Harris to take over. This should be soon. Harris will carry forward the #BidenBoom.

when you vote for President you are voting for a coalition rather than a person.
the right understands this very well, which is why evangelicals lined up behind Trump.

It seems grim right now so try to imagine a Heritage Foundation staffer sobbing on the phone with their mom because Trump just lost another election. Feels good. And it can still happen. It's July.
