the part of shelby that annoys me most is the slyness of it all. The Roberts Court simply said "oh you know, this would be fine if only Congress would update the list of covered jurisdictions" in the absolute and total knowledge that Congress couldn't and wouldn't update the list.

The week of June 25, 2013, I was at a gathering of Well-Intentioned People who were jabbering excitedly about the Hollingsworth opinion. Of course, said Well-Intentioned People werenโt even aware of what was at stake in Shelby County, much less what the Shelby County opinion actually said.
