Sorry if I’m oversharing! As a non-Souls-vet, Elden Ring took a bit to get into. But once I had the horse, the spirit summons, a map, and the feeling of freedom of exploring in all directions to see what I could tackle, I got into the groove. Then everyone’s advice is level Vigor for hit points!

You can summon ashes to help fight, he respawns, no other enemies around, easy enough to reclaim your runes. He’s my testing target for new weapons and spells, etc. Attacks against his chest - or better yet head, though you can’t auto target that - are more effective, especially for knockdown, but

First up, I love my telescope, constantly handy. So I got my practice in on fighting a giant/troll after finding the Third Church of Marika, which is a bit northwest of Agheel Lake, I think the left path of the fork if you follow the road going the other direction from Stormgate.

In your inventory you’ll see a “spirit ash” page where those will now live! As opposed to the OTHER ashes, Ashes of War, which are the battle arts of the deceased rather than the spirit. Those you can use once you fully clear out Gatefront Ruins, which is best done with wolves along for the ride!

You do not need a consumable for the summons! You just need the summons. So whenever the kind of white gate symbol shows up on the middle-left, you can summon. The witch gave you The Best Boys - three dire wolves to live Stark dreams.

Classic American political dialogue is premised on the idea that we share fundamental values but disagree on how best to promote them. I haven’t believed this for a while. Other than “I prefer to be alive and not dead” and “I like pudding,” I do not share values with these people.
