Scientists have discovered a brain circuit in mice that can detect, ramp up and tamp down inflammation, and it's likely in humans as well. Study's in Nature. It's a body-brain connection I think will raise a lot of questions on psychosomatic and placebo effects. www.eurekalert.org/news-release...

@annaleen.bsky.social Have you read "Cahokia Jazz?" It's a mystery set in an alt-America where one of your favorite cities, Cahokia, continued to the modern day. It came out about the same time as "The Terraformers." I'm just starting it now. wrongquestions.blogspot.com/2024/03/caho...

Love the stories in general, but the fact that I'm a Holmesian, a writer of sci-fi murder mysteries (www.cqchoi.com/bythewilloft...) and a creator of BDOs (spectrum.ieee.org/hard-science...) means Mossa, Pleiti and Giant are especially up my alley

It's such a daring stunt at its core--setting a murder mystery in an old story of Astro Boy, a detective trying to track down a serial killer hunting the seven greatest robots in the world. But beyond that, it's a great meditation on robots, humanity, war, bigotry and more.

I think that ending really capture the out of the blue gut punch feel of some incidents; how it feels outrageously unjustified and unfair, and you’re helpless to do anything about it. It’s a very real feeling. Poison indeed.
