I'm only just catching up with the onslaught of game announcements, but I love the sound of this sci-fi city-builder that makes sustainability a core goal. The team behind it are some of the best, too - proper mega-brains.

For @remapradio.bsky.social, I reviewed the new memoir by Jordan Mechner, creator of Prince of Persia, together with his journals from the 80s and 90s. Mechner is less interested in games than making a romantic hero of his great-aunt, and the book is far better for it. remapradio.com/articles/jor...

The quote here is illustrative, but the real issue is that the UK has been pushed into a state where public services are ruined and people are starving and dying. It has been gradual enough, and ignored enough by the press, that we are not rioting in the streets, and so the Tories have won.

I'm biased because I am obsessed with Mechner's work and have been stoked about this memoir for ages, but I think @duncanfyfe.bsky.social wrote a beautiful review of it for us at Remap. We're gonna have a pod conversation about it up later today.

It is both funny and instructive how eager so many powerful individuals and institutions with massively grandiose understandings of their own significance have been to discard every value they've ever professed or pretended to in order to protect the dumbest, shittiest rich guy of his generation.

We need to start calling this what it is: executive theft. Vice was valued at $5.7 billion in 2017 and its c-suite has been paying itself six-figure *bonuses* as recently as LAST YEAR. Now they can't afford employees or a website? Theft.
