I don’t love that we’re still seeing these takes, but George Clooney is somewhat more convincing than most of the others because of his status as a massive fundraiser for Joe. www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/o...

Focus on Docker compose, it’s far less painful. You basically need to know three commands:
docker compose up (adding the -d flag after you figure it out)
docker compose down
docker compose build
This makes it pretty easy. github.com/azukaar/Cosm...

Regardless of where you fall on the Joe Biden debacle, I can't help but be amused at the sight of a bunch of 75 year olds giving their input on what an 80 year old should do.

The thing is, the Pilot was a very well-managed paper when I was there. Well, until I got laid off, at least.

Why I bought the domain for the newspaper I worked at in the late 2000s.
And why, if you’re worried about your search results, you should maybe consider following suit.

Good on them. I like how they chose to take steps to protect the rank-and-filers with this tech change, rather than removing features they rely on

Beloved Apple blog TUAW was shut down in 2015, sold to private equity, then sold to a company in Hong Kong. It recently relaunched as an AI content farm using the stolen identities and bylines of its former human staff. A nightmare:

If you worked somewhere that shut down a while ago, media companies are starting to unload old domains. Ask me how I know.

The CD had a lot of hidden tricks. The best one was the pregap.
Here’s how they figured out how to hide songs in there:

In this case, the guy peaced out the second I started dropping links and my understanding of how the media works, because he realized I did not support his agenda. Avoid saying how you really feel, but hint at it just enough that you can get people to play into your facade.

When you're producing a product and people misuse it, if you don't take steps to correct that misuse then you're co-signing on it. You can't "not my problem" out of that situation. If you're aware of it, and you don't care, the distinction between endorsement and apathy is meaningless.

Hey, everyone who keeps downplaying the role of media framing, you know we can *literally* measure this happening, right? Your denialism doesn't make it go away, and you aren't smart enough to somehow evade it.

IMHO: Own your list. Social networks leverage temporary engagement for short-term growth, then rugpull in favor of paid distribution. It gradually forces creatives to work harder for less. It’s less likely to happen with email or RSS. So own your blog, and own your email list.
