THIS is the context in which to consider the Heritage Foundation President's threat that the "2nd American Revolution" might not be "bloodless": Trump ordering troops to shoot American protesters, which he was only stopped from doing last time by his Scty of Defense. www.threads.net/@gtconway3dg...

Thought experiment: Imagine if Obama, after claiming an election had been stolen from him and being convicted of 34 felonies, was granted immunity by SCOTUS justices who had taken undisclosed luxury trips on George Soros' dime. The fact that you can't even imagine this scenario tells you something.

Reminder from a Pittsburgher who was at one point Mr. Rogers neighbor: “Look for the helpers” was intended to be advice for his usual audience, children. We’re grown ups now. We’re supposed to be the helpers.

Maybe this shows my age, but I remember the "this is your brain on drugs" ads where a man shows us an egg "this is your brain" then cracks it into a hot pan "this is your brain on drugs. Any questions?" She has definitely cracked in the pan.

I don't find anything funny at the moment, but I am finding it (cosmically?) hilarious that we are this evolved species, bringers of art and literature and music and architecture. We are engineers. We made trains and cellos and comic books. But our real genius is self-sabotage.

Why should you fight injustice, if it affects only others? Why should you defend rights that don't affect you? Because it isn't justice if you only care when it applies to you. Because rights apply to all, or nobody at all. Because you are a true warrior, and honor calls for it.

The AI trend of “we took this art and expanded it beyond the artist’s intent because *more* of a thing means better” - showing what’s “out of frame” in a shot from a movie, or turning a six word short story into a novella - speaks to what art actually is: knowing what isn’t necessary.

I often see people desperately worried about loud and angry misinterpretation, willful or otherwise, of their work by people with limited experience with fiction, low reading comprehension skills, or malice at their core. And I cannot say this enough: fuck them kids. Do what you want.

I see other writers bring this up, and I agree: I think it would behoove Democratic leadership in this country to stop aligning with the right and start working overtime to fire up people and enable them to real action, lest the masses fall into widespread desperation and chaos.

How do you get people organized on the level we need to enact serious change, without a lot of money and powerful voices to lead them? So many good people are out there, but then the hammer falls. What desperate thing will bring people together in lieu of leadership?

I believe people do care, a great deal, but there is a lot of shaming and blaming going around that is also unfair. I read more and more about people wanting strikes and similar actions, but all the above means people are not organized. That might be the missing element.

I don't think people stick their heads in the sand so much as try to get by: rents, food, travel, are all out of reach for too many people. Add in disease, knowledge of climate change and global strife we have no power to influence? We need a better way forward than just Do Something.

I do appreciate this post, but I think the reality of the masses being overwhelmed/helpless by the outrageous amount of problems we're facing is what keeps us locked in, not being ignorant or uncaring. A whole planet has screamed to end genocide in Gaza and it doesn't stop.

In light of the Labour manifesto: Trans rights _are_ women's rights. I don't mean that in a "Trans Rights Are Human Rights" way, I mean that anti-trans policies are inevitably harmful to all women (as women), and, conversely, that trans-positive norms are a proximal boon to women.

One way you know Martha-Ann Alito is a true Christian, a woman of sincere faith, is that she daydreams about using a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag to get back at her neighbors for respecting LGBTQ people's right to exist. She embodies the timeless wisdom of His teaching: "Hate thy neighbor."
