The first message might be good advice though - the list of unstarted games in the library (probably at least 3 digits now?) and the amount of hours they represent (probably 4 digits) is frankly daunting.

More likely WestJet lied to keep people from cancelling their tickets (see my response to your previous post). Either way I’m genuinely sorry for you missing out on whatever it is the strike is interrupting. It can really be devastating to have plans explode.

This is the closest I could find. AMFA says refrain from “unlawful” job action - the CIRB says it’s lawful for them to strike. Only WestJet said that a strike wouldn’t happen.

The CIRB literally confirmed today that nothing in the arbitration order prevented them from striking. I say this as someone with two flights booked through WestJet in the next two days that I will instead pay AC wayyyy too much money. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I proclaimed my first (knock-off) robot vacuum “best family member of the year” when I got it, which led friends to joke that it was my baby. It then became BRV - baby robot vacuum. All erv’s since have been an upgrade and thus the best family member of the year and so inherit the name.

The conditions in the field are why they’re leaving. The specialty has been in distress for awhile and family doctors have been leaving for awhile but now the ones who are morally distressed by leaving are speaking.

And this will be the answer of everyone who has the same opportunities that current family doctors have no matter how many fam doctors you add to the field in any realistic training scenario (there are real limits to training numbers if you care about quality).

Frankly every generation of family doctors for the last 40 years has seen conditions in their field get worse. Gov’t used to at least pretend to want to solve their problems. Now they just get told to deal with it. So they are - by finding better ways to make a living.

They have been kind and conscientious doctors I’d be happy for my loved ones to see who have been burned out by too many demands on too little time for too little benefit (both spiritual/emotional/psychological and material).

There is no mass conspiracy by family doctors. Dismissing the concerns they raise because you don’t like the answer they propose only means letting the problem get worse.

I’m not saying conditions are unfair. I’m saying drs are making rational decisions. If (all else equal) you could suffer less, while getting same or more material or non-material benefits you’d have to be an idiot or a saint to say no. Individual family doctors are making that decision every day.

Taking out ur mads on famdr’s b/c of a dislike of ppl making money rather than focusing where the real issue is (continued wealth hoarding by the 0.5-0.1%, conscious underfunding of social safety net, medical system, etc) is just sad to see especially when the proposed solution harms regular ppl.

Your blithe rx for 2.6million un-doctored folks condemns them to worse healthcare for a decade at minimum(the rough length of medical training pipeline) and does nothing to stop them from moving to other provinces or continuing to leave the field.

A construction worker makes 75-200k/year with less knowledge, training, and responsibility (ask me how I know). In the society we have, asking someone to spend 60-120hrs/wk for 6 years (minimum) to do the same is busted.

Ontario has more family med trained Dr’s than ever before. They’re not leaving for other countries - they’re doing other work here in Ontario because it’s as gratifying while paying better and being less stressful.

Being a famdoc is a job like other jobs. You don’t have to be a saint (or martyr) to be a great one. Which is good - there aren’t enough of either around. But if you don’t fix FamMed you lose the non-saints. And they provide a pretty necessary service.

The argument is not that family doctors deserve more - it’s that they have other options. If the issues in the field aren’t addressed they will keep leaving and no one else can do what they do as well as they do it.
