Looking at #RomancingtheVote current stats and you can still talk to acclaimed and groundbreaking romance author Beverly Jenkins for $250, but her annotated book is clocking in at $1300? Seems like it should be the other way? #Romancelandia www.32auctions.com/organization...

TBH I didn’t even think of that because I don’t really see your senators as representing the interests of their states. My bad. 😜

Oh I see what you’re getting at. I agree that there probably isn’t anything on that specific model, but in Canada, for instance, health care and education are provincial responsibilities and they’re HUGE chunks of the budget, provinces have to agree to constitutional amendments…there’s a lot.

I mean…lots and lots of countries are federations of one sort or another. The US is far from unique in that regard.

Oh no! This happened to the Toronto Public Library too (at the end of October). They were able to get ebook holds up pretty fast, but hard-copy holds took ages, and photocopying still isn’t back. There are so many systems that they must be pretty vulnerable.

A useful clue about something that’s going on is that the DUP pro-Brexit vote in NI has now also split. Of course NI really is on the pointy end of Brexit and the issues aren’t all the same. But still, that would support the idea that it’s at least partly a More Brexit vote.

Interesting — in Canada they release poll-by-poll results as they get them, so you at least get some sense of how things are going even if they’ve only counted one ballot box

Canadian elections have been sadly devoid of whimsy lately, unless you count the 70-candidate ballot in the recent Toronto by-election

Through my childhood, on election nights, my dad was the man under Peter Snow’s desk putting interesting facts on notecards into his socks.
That’s how it was done before Google, kids. You got a very clever ASD man with some Oxford degrees to just remember interesting constituency histories.
