One can show PRECISELY how fascists hijacked mainstream discourse in 2016 using The Bad Site. And then show how moderation and kicking Trump off The Bad Site may have been all that prevented civil war. So ... I'm not convinced.

Extremely frustrating to hear legal experts analyzing the SCOTUS ruling on immunity like just another case - it's an inherently normalizing act. People need to stop playing constitutional Calvinball and treat them like political actors.

I don't agree for two reasons. First, you really need someone with the stamina to run. Second, if he were to win, it would create a succession crisis, especially if the GOP retained one or both houses of Congress.

One other thing Mike Morell told HJC (aside from explaining how Trump's narcissism makes something like Jan6 more likely) is that the 2016 RU attack started in 2014, which I had come to believe, but didn't realize the spooks did too.

Several of the analyses calling for Biden to drop don't even notice they're doing it. Like NYT, one of their chief complaints (in the op-ed, not the 10,000 other opinion pieces sometimes posing as journalism) was that he didn't call out Trump's lies. Which is, of course, their job.

It's fairly insane that MOST political journalists exhibit no understanding that being President and running for President are not the same thing, and often a President who is effective at making policy may not titillate their beltway gossip machine, which reflects on THEIR competence, not his.

I think Kamala can open up enough distance between her and Biden on Gaza. The timing of Bibi's speech, which was surely intended to fuck over Biden, may well help. I think this MIGHT break the double hater stalemate. And she's far better at talking abortion than Joe.
