I didn’t watch any debates in 2020, I am absolutely not going to watch any this year, and I believe that this choice alone is probably going to add a few years of functionality to my heart and nervous system
I suggest this approach to others
I genuinely can't remember the last Presidential debate I watched. My best guess is 1996. I can't imagine learning anything from watching them that I need to know.
I worked in print journalism for awhile. I hate TV/cable news with all my heart. I especially hate debates (outside of maybe in municipalities where they can be useful). When I no longer had to for work, I stopped watching news on TV.
The only reason I wound up catching any of the recent debates is because my roommate is an avid watcher. But now I live alone so I don't see myself seeing this years. 🙃
I mean, as Americans we have the easiest political choice in the world. We have probably the best major center-left party in the world and the other choice is the worst "center-right" party in the world (having been hijacked by fascists and reactionaries).
Same! I also recommend leaving your party. I quit the Democratic in 18 when I realized we didn’t value the same things, and I’ve felt lighter and freer ever since.
