Scoping out a Fox Kids Countdown for YouTube. This is the one right before MMPR:TM, and it's fascinating because Rocky and Billy host the show in half-kayfabe. They're playing their characters, but they're alluding to their real lives in places.
The way they handled publicity was really weird.

No I’m not going to America’s birthday party because for me July 4th will forever be the day I stood in that house for the last time

In any event, I am treating this like a category 5 hurricane. I’m getting my shit in order to start the ball rolling on my name and gender marker changes next week.

Traditionally it *is* a risk. But poll after poll signals that people don’t want him in the race, and has been for the last year.
Yeah, other Ds are doing as bad or worse, but what if those numbers are their FLOOR, but Biden’s CEILING?
This is the very rare case that a change is the right call.

I think the calls are getting too loud to ignore, even after the attempts yesterday to signal he's staying in.
I'm half expecting this ABC interview tomorrow to basically turn into a concession.

I want to be Jessalyn past January 20, 2025. That's it. That's all I want.
A candidate Harris would be the best shot at my transition continuing.

I'm not a huge fan of hers, full stop. There's some stuff in her past that makes her an uneasy choice for me.
I also would vote for Elmer Fucking Fudd if he was the Democratic candidate at this point.

As for the who - I think the best choice is Kamala Harris. Ceding to the VP avoids significant logistical headaches, if not the inevitable "Dems in Disarray" headlines the NYT is salivating over.
It also avoids the shitty optics of casting aside a Black woman.

I really do think the Dems need to roll the dice here. Convince Joe to gracefully step down and go with another candidate that can better take the fight to Trump.
I believe that alone will energize voters to show the fuck up at the polls.

Now... I'm voting in this election. Jill and Kamala could be propping up Joe's lifeless corpse at campaign events Weekend at Bernies-style and I would *still* cast a vote for him, because the other choice is effectively my destruction.
But.

I am not the only one. My friends, my family, we're all fucking terrified. We're keenly aware that if this election goes bad, that's it. For our transitions, our marriages, our bodily autonomy, our lives.

That low level panic has gone to DEFCON 1.
For the last week, I have been consumed by a profound sense of terror that just will not go away no matter how hard I try. I am keenly aware, at all times, that my life will change for the worse if we stay on the current path.

For the entire year, I've had a low level panic about the coming election, because I've seen the polls, I've seen the sentiment, and a lot of people really do want someone else. I've never felt that Biden's election was assured, and I've worried too many people would abstain.

Biden has, I think, done a decently good job in many areas, with dramatic improvement needed in others (Gaza, trans rights).
But the debate stage showed a candidate who, as someone who has taken care of elderly parents, is clearly aging significantly.

We are in a terrifying moment. Far right movements are gaining ground across the globe. The right wing party here has embraced authoritarianism to a genuinely frightening degree. SCOTUS just this week ruled that Trump can effectively rule as a king.

I think Biden should step aside. I've had this belief since before the debate, and I'm even more sure of it now.
But I need to articulate why.
Thread incoming.

I am building up to _incandescently_ pissed.
Two years ago I hatched. Last fucking weekend I figured out how to, for the first time in my life, actually not hate myself, to start to love myself.
And in the midst of this? No. No that's not going to be it.

Taking HRT was the first time I started feeling true happiness. The thought of having that happiness taken away, through absolutely no fault of my own, is absolutely terrifying.
Please please PLEASE keep this monster out so we can start fixing the damage SCOTUS has done to the country.

This is a hellish situation and trans folks are just one of many groups that are going to be in the cross hairs (honestly might be literal ones) if things go bad in November but fuck me is it hard to see "Oh no, the people who have barely done anything to help you can't even do that now. Buckle up."

I'm going to vote for Biden not because I like him or even want him to be President, he's an absolute monster, but if he loses then it's Done. Trans folks won't be able to live in America. We'll be outlawed. We'll be forced to detransition. And that's just what they've ADMITTED they'll do

It is not Pessimistic or Unrealistic or anything to say that if the Republicans win in November the chances of HRT being outlawed for trans people entirely across the country is basically guaranteed
And even it they lose, if nothing is done about The Supreme Court then it's still on the table

I'm saving it for July 25th. The Philly Film Center is premiering the 4K cut that evening, and I literally bought my tickets the minute I heard about it.
I am so fucking stoked.
