Scoping out a Fox Kids Countdown for YouTube. This is the one right before MMPR:TM, and it's fascinating because Rocky and Billy host the show in half-kayfabe. They're playing their characters, but they're alluding to their real lives in places. The way they handled publicity was really weird.

Traditionally it *is* a risk. But poll after poll signals that people don’t want him in the race, and has been for the last year. Yeah, other Ds are doing as bad or worse, but what if those numbers are their FLOOR, but Biden’s CEILING? This is the very rare case that a change is the right call.

As for the who - I think the best choice is Kamala Harris. Ceding to the VP avoids significant logistical headaches, if not the inevitable "Dems in Disarray" headlines the NYT is salivating over. It also avoids the shitty optics of casting aside a Black woman.

For the entire year, I've had a low level panic about the coming election, because I've seen the polls, I've seen the sentiment, and a lot of people really do want someone else. I've never felt that Biden's election was assured, and I've worried too many people would abstain.

Biden has, I think, done a decently good job in many areas, with dramatic improvement needed in others (Gaza, trans rights). But the debate stage showed a candidate who, as someone who has taken care of elderly parents, is clearly aging significantly.
