regardless of what you think of America there are a lot of good people here worth fighting for, and that’s what I’m going to hold onto regardless of what happens in November
and those people are worth celebrating
Definitely tired of the "get what they deserve" narrative when every election is 50.1/49.9 and active efforts to prevent the people suffering the consequences from voting in the first place
I am hopeful that unlike previous dictatorship takeovers, the people in the US who oppose this will be harder to divide and conquer. It's in your culture to stand up for others. They are going to have a hard time targeting groups without significant pushback from the entire anti-fascist population.
I honestly think there is more good than bad in the world. The bad is just terribly loud. But the good is condensed and whispers, but there is way more of it. You just have to look for it.
It's so hard not to feel discouraged and overwhelmed. My son and his partner, who is queer, have the ability to go to Canada if the worst happens. We can't. We were with them yesterday and it kills me to think they may have to leave. It hurts. But I'm trying to stay positive and hopeful.
