Annual request for the summer roadtrip podcast recommendations. We love Smartless, Behind the Bastards, Hardcore History, Dr Death, anything from American Scandal, anything related to corporate scandals (WeCrashed, etc) and anything that's extremely funny.
I love to listen to How I Built This while taking long drives, some really fantastic episodes about companies like Cisco, Ring, sub-pop, etc. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...
Sounds like you're more on the serious side of history podcasts but have you tried You're Dead to Me? BBC Radio podcast that covers historical topics with rotating historian and comedian guests.
So it’s a pandemic era podcast that hasn’t had new episodes in 2 years but love Here’s Where It Went Wrong. Favorite episode was about the molasses flood.
I recently started listening to Paul Giamatti's podcast Chinwag and he's a riot. Co-host is a philosophy professor, and they talk with a vast array of people--the first 10 eps include actors/comedians, a former FBI criminal profiler, a former DA, an Egyptologist, and the Long Island medium.
Husband is not a lawyer, so he can handle about 2-3 episodes of 5-4 before he begs for the sweet release of death, unfortunately.
Also, we love IBCK and Maintenance Phase.
Subject to Change is the name of the podcast. Particularly two episodes with @bretdevereaux.bsky.social as the guest. The military logistics of the Battle of Helms Deep and the Siege of Gondor.
I enjoy Our Fake History which debunks historical myths and humor wise is more on the Hardcore History sode of the spectrum compared to Behind the Bastards. But it is pretty light most of the time.
Knowledge Fight! There's a LOT of it, but I found the "Formulaic Objections" episodes covering the depositions in Alex Jones' various defamation cases to be a good jumping off point.
this has been good on trips this summer! bbc has put out this series of stories of resistance & bravery. surely for no particular reason at this time, they just thought it would be interesting…
There's always the dollop. Two comedians reading stories from history. Dies episodes on people and events in American history. Some good, some not so good.
Shameless plug for my podcast about the life and inventions of Nikola Tesla. Trying to reclaim his actual legacy from the internet cranks and conspiracy theorists. Plus, jokes! podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/t...
