For me it depends. Spooky/eerie horror, I'm all over it. But gory, violent horror, no, especially since so much of it just tilts into being about violation in a very "the metaphor here is paper thin if we even bothered to make it metaphorical at all" sort of way. Don't need that in my head, thanks.

I joke a lot about my capacity for despair, but there's enough Catholic discipline in my youth to remember that it is in fact a sin, one that absorbs all the best in you more comprehensively than a tar pit. I left the church ages ago, but I held onto that cable: despair is not a long-term good.

I had to look that up. Apparently it went from "Wolftrap" as a place name (since, y'know, wolves) -> Wolf Trap Run as a creek name -> a plot of land including said creek called Wolf Trap Farm -> Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts -> "that's too many words, just call it Wolf Trap again."

A doctor tried to tell me my symptoms were just because of stress when it turned out I had 23 polyps in my colon.
No amount of stress management will make those go away. Doctors being willing to do literally anything besides pushing blame onto patients might.
