This is particularly important to understand because Trumpist authoritarianism is the descendent of Jim Crow far more than say Hitler or Pinochet or Orban, and it's going to look a lot more like 1930s Mississippi than 1930s Berlin.

And Hitler was very inspired by Jim Crow, so this is just chickens coming back to roost.

Why is everyone determined to minimize the clear fascist threat stated in Project 2025? It says what they’re going to do. And it’s establish a white nationalist semi-theocratic state. It’s going to be bad for anyone to the left of Goebbles.

This is how I’ve felt as a Jew for sure. Like yes authoritarians tend to find ways to weaponize antisemitism even if it’s not their primary project (& America in the 1930s WAS quite dangerous for Jews in many ways), but I do not see myself as a CENTRAL target here. My role is solidarity & activism.

It's going to look a lot like East Germany in the 1970s. Americans aren't ready for the feds selectively cracking down on their unenforced lawbreaking ("legal" pot) Nor the gov't publicly exposing things that are embarrassing (porn) Nor what's about to become illegal (certain political speech)

The big difference is that it really only worked because whites could collectively agree to that, with very few dissenters. This does not exist, so the better model is Hungary, if we are lucky, or Russia, if we aren't lucky.
