Ageism is hiring a 25 year old instead of a better qualified 55 year old. It's not "ageism" to say that an 81 year old or a 78 year old might not be able to handle the world's most demanding job.

Arizona Indivisibles collected 31,939 signatures (145% of their goal of 22,000) to stop a GOP abortion ban and restore reproductive freedom in their state. Please show some love to our Arizona volunteers for a very successful year of determined work in every county from Apache to Yuma! 👏

That he is senile and utterly inept for the task at hand? I’m glad it clarified it because it is demonstrably true. Keep sticking to the “one bad debate” talking point, I sincerely hope you’re right

That it was much more than a bad debate! That it showed Biden for the very senile old man that he is! Did you even watch it or did you just read coverage? It was very clear from the beginning that we were witnessing a melt down

Saying that what Biden did has happened to any other candidate, much less multiple incumbents, is a ridiculous lie

He did do exactly what he wants. He wants to provide the legal trappings for an autocracy the next time a Republican is elected.

It wasn’t a “bad debate”. The man couldn’t follow a thought for a complete sentence, couldn’t rebut anything Trump said, was entirely incapable of articulating a stance on any salient issue to the campaign. He looked and sounded like he couldn’t be trusted to take care of himself

i was just going to make a post about this. if trump decides you are an enemy of the state or a “threat to national security” and has you deported, citizenship or not, there’s nothing you can do to get home. he has full legal power to render you stateless.

Pretty clear that the Federalist Society project to take over the courts for the far right is the most successful and consequential political effort in history. Only took them a few decades. Meanwhile, Dems are like "Let's not be hasty, blue slips serve an important function in preserving comity."

Think about the baselines here. Taney inherited a vile political system and dedicated his career to perpetuating it. Roberts inherited a system that, although flawed on any number of dimensions, sought to uphold a modest version of democratic equality. He's dedicated his career to dismantling it.

Beyond his obvious problems, Biden is the worst possible person to be President in this historical moment. He doesn't speak about Supreme Court corruption because he's a supposed "institutionalist," he convened a "commission" which came to nothing, he has absolutely no fire to rally the country, etc

It's just hilariously disingenuous. Imagine looking at, say, ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY and concluding that the biggest threat to liberty isn't abuse of power, but powerful people refraining from sufficiently wielding their authority out of fear that they might one day be held accountable.

I know we have a counter majoritarian system. I am familiar with the constitution and our history. I know why this is technically possible. I am asking whether it is tenable to keep thinking of our country as a democracy when it works out like this.
