Twitter is now a right wing propaganda and spam mill run by an ignorant fascist, and I'm embarrassed for anybody (especially journalists) still using it, funding it, or helping lend it credibility
I know people get sensitive about shaming people for still using it, but it's a fucking nazi bar
you wouldn't concoct all sorts of weird and flimsy internal rationalizations to justify chatting up the lads at a nazi bar
Today on a Twitter thread about the shooting in Renton there was a pro gun ad. They've made it so you can't click to remove the ads on a phone, the three dots are too small. It's a horrid sick place.
I ended up deleting my account when I realized that I spent just as much time blocking spammers, scammers, and trolls as doing literally anything else, and that it wasn't enjoyable - it was work.
My kids' schools, teachers - the entire system - is still on there. I *hate* that a Nazi bar has grown up around what used to be a perfectly fine/convenient system of showing of what the school is doing, what events are coming up, etc. And there's just no emergent alternative. Hate it.
My personal experience/opinion - I see what I chose to see there (or not). Not paying. Ads blocked. Other places like this still have long ways to replace Twitter. Blu is my "backup plan B".
I think the idea is that you don't win against fascists by retreating and abandoning terrain; they will follow you.
You have to fight them. You have to stand your ground.
You have to punch the nazis and throw them out of the bar.
I can't understand why leftists still use it. Democratic officials (including US president) post on the same network as these ads bsky.app/profile/ygal...
I have long broken my habit of checking twitter and even started unfollowing people I’ve found on other platforms. I keep the account for the random links to X I encounter and each time I find so many people I otherwise respect still just posting away out there. So disappointing.
“The delete was not intended to be poignant, Hogan said; he periodically deletes the ones that aren’t ‘bangers.’”
Amazing that a guy like this has managed to keep a single tweet up.
Still zero regrets about leaving then platform and I’m annoyed every time an article links to X-Twitter especially when the conversation they’re linking was likely less interesting that what was happening here or on Threads or Mastodon or even Reddit
