I didn't say what I wanted to say because it was a work event, but holy hell. Does this person think that my house stops using energy when I am not home? Do they think that I consume more energy WFH than in an office? Do I emit more emissions walking down the stairs than commuting? GRRRR

And some nitwit said that it wasn't clear that WFH reduced emissions since, you know, you use heat and water while you're working from home. ....

I was in a training session on how to deal with climate anxiety and I got mad at someone. Basically, I complained that the govt was stupid to make employees commute more which contributes to climate change ...

Someone got paid actual, real world money, the fundamental ability to survive in our capitalist society, to write this, and it is an indictment on us all that we haven’t sent the NYTimes management to a farm upstate in Albany yet.

I know, but it's foolish. Profits on SUVs aren't like a law of nature - they are a policy choice. Would be awesome if govts charged more for things that are bad for the environment and gave rebates for things that combat climate change.

There’s a group of kids on the corner selling lemonade. They yell “LEMONADE” at every passing vehicle, but the only people I have seen stop for a drink so far are on foot or bike. There is no shortage of free parking on the street. Maybe this is analogous to local business districts. 😉

Same with dealing with car salesmen - they like the growl of noisy inefficient SUVs and I can see them rolling their eyes when I say, I just want something small, quiet, and efficient.

Side effect of new heat pump is that basement is freezing cold (like a walk-in freezer) while top floor is pretty hot. Why would air circulation get worse just because we replaced the A/C?

If you widen that highway
you won’t reduce emissions
or congestion.
What you WILL do
is spend a lot of public money
to induce even more cars
emitting even more GHGs & pollution
in the same or worse congestion
with people still telling you to widen the highway.
Period.

“15-minute cities are beneficial for everyone, especially women. We know that women are more likely to walk and use public transit. Their trips are shorter, have more stops, and are more frequent since they are more likely to make caregiving trips…”
