There's a trick in the numbers anytime the military is involved with manpower. The hours are usually inflated and they were already accounted for in pay as active military. Not saying that's the case here but . . .
Before construction: "look how much I care, I'm spending a third of a billion dollars!"
After construction and collapse: "Look, what do you expect, we barely spent $300 million on it, that's like nothing."
The cost is not even the central issue. The issue is that it was a BS publicity stunt that does not appear to have helped a single Palestinian. Pathetic.
