Thank goodness the potential to be put in "legal jeopardy" is an absolute deterrent for people to avoid doing illegal things. Especially people convinced they are somehow more special than others.
Why do we think Presidential immunity doesn't extend to the president's minions in the first place? The Speech + Debate Clause extends to congressional staff, after all. And what good is an energetic President if his henchmen are deterred by the risk *they* will be prosecuted?

The Constitution did not give SCOTUS the power to rewrite core elements of the Constitution. That requires an amendment or legislation. They are playing a game of chicken, and we need to ask all of our elected officials to call their bluff and charge back. They are usurping power if we let them.
