Hey! Remember Republicans saying "Obamacare will make death panels to kill your grandma!"? Then you should probably go check out chapter 14 of the Project 2025 manifesto. Because every Conservative/Republican accusation is a confession.

this is so gd frustrating, demoralizing, enervating. dem leadership needs to get their sh*t together and, in unison, move on to whatever is next. but stop dragging out this drama.

Among these, I always get stuck on the Senate filibuster. It did not exist in any form while the Framers were alive. The current form, in which a Senator can stop a bill permanently without doing anything, did not exist until the 1970s. But it's treated as sacrosanct.

I mean, it's clearly further evidence of corruption of some sort, but framing a trip to St. Petersburg Russia as a trip to "Putin's home town" is just clickbait

The phenomenon we now call "meme stocks" was prototyped by Elon Musk in the second quarter of 2013, many years before the term came into use. Every "meme stock" since has followed that template. This is one of Elon Musk's actual innovations.

Both-sidesism is only possible when everyone abides by the rule of law. Once Trump wins, both-sidesism will disappear as its practitioners, being pseudo-intellectual cowards, will completely capitulate to lawless fascism, and from then on we'll only ever read how evil liberalism and Democrats are.

Now, every day brings a report of a new planned Trump atrocity. If he wins, every day will bring a report of an actual Trump atrocity. Then suddenly there will be no more reports of Trump atrocities because that day's atrocity will be the imprisonment of those who were reporting the atrocities.

44 years ago the Jewish woman I loved asked me why "Holohoaxers" deny the Holocaust. My answer then is the same as I would give today: because they want to do it again, only more completely, and they think accusing Jews of perpetrating a hoax justifies and facilitates making it happen again.

In 1972 I was 15 and it was all full service. Attendants used to tell me it was dangerous for me to do it. Three years later it was 50:50, with Arco leading the way to self serve. By late 70's, you had to know where there were still 'full serve' stations. Dads & moms used full serve. Kids used Arco.

I am 67 and grew up in Anaheim. The change from a service man pumping your gas to self serve was largely driven by the first Arab oil embargo in 1973. Because the embargo doubled gas prices (30 to 60 cents/gal), the gas station owners cut back attendants and there was a 2-tier pricing system.

Project 2025 is useful mostly in that a key problem Democratic campaigns have historically had is that when you tell people what Republicans actually want to do, they don’t believe you. The evil public list makes it a bit more concrete.

Fundamentally, the legitimacy of courts depends on their commitment to the rule of law. Which, in turn, heavily relies on courts respecting their own rules and their own limits and boundaries. When the EPA or a prosecutor oversteps, the courts are there as a check. But quis custodiet?

"Trump's base is more tenacious, they won't listen to the media", true, I'm not after them. Centrists or low motivated voters
