I think some people are just not very bright about food. I remember blowing my mom's mind a few years back when I told her quesadillas were vegetarian. She genuinely had not realized and had been panicking that there wouldn't be vegetarian options for my wife at the local Mexican place

My city has tool libraries where locals can borrow tools for free and learn how to use them. I went from being a new volunteer to a shift lead with all the access codes and even got put in charge of rewriting the volunteer manual all in the span of 4 months
