A mask ban makes our communities LESS safe. It makes everyone more at risk of COVID and other health concerns. It increases harassment of higher risk people, Asian people, and many others. It increases profiling of Black and Brown communities.

A lot of disabled people can only exist socially online. That's missing in the lot of "touch grass discourse." Disabled people are often living physically limited from leaving their homes, & also commonly in social exile & abandonment that means the internet is the human community sustaining them.

Mask bans are strategies of oppression. The bans will first harm disabled, queer, and BIPOC communities. But it’ll cost the rest of you your health and freedom eventually. Disability justice is for everyone; we either die young or live long enough to become disabled. Resist the bans. Wear an n95.

Reminder: you either die young or live long enough to be disabled. Age, illness, accident, pollution, war, poverty, climate change, and/or abuse will eventually disable you. Disability justice is for us all. Past and future. Demand it. Build it. Make it the norm. Step one: wear an n95 in public.

seeing people who don't wear masks saying they care about other people's mental health is so disingenuous to me when covid causes mental health issues. not to mention the harm they're causing to high risk people by making sure every space is inaccessible

so funny when customers assume i'm sick because i'm wearing a mask & when i say i'm protecting myself from getting sick, they love to tell me they're being careful too whilst standing in front of me, unmasked. they get so quiet when i say i haven't been ill in years because of my mask

I think it's a positive sign that such a large consumer-focused outlet like Men's Health is warning its readers about COVID reinfections, Long COVID, and is recommending masking in 2024. More of this, please!

The Biddy is a folk tradition linked to Brigid’s Day and Imbolc, where groups wear handmade straw headpieces to travel around playing music and carrying a Brídeóg (model Brigid in child form), warding off evil and bringing luck. It's still strong in parts of Kerry.

It's horrible antivaxxers are causing more measles outbreaks. But governments are also complicit. When you've spent years normalizing mass infection for COVID, you shouldn't be surprised when more people take a "you do you" anti-public health attitude towards other diseases too.

It's so illogical and dangerous that even after seeing a virus kill tens of millions and disable many more, a majority of people still haven't adapted by making the most simple adjustments to their lives like wearing a mask or staying home when they are sick.
