House prices have near doubled in Great Shelford since I bought in 2008. I've just watched my friends have to move house because their landlord put it on the market and they couldn't afford to buy it - on two professional salaries.

We don't have that much in *savings*, never mind current account, but are definitely comfortably well off. We don't have to budget the grocery shopping, or worry about the bills. That's very comfortable!

Buying makes sense but how do you save a deposit if you're paying sky high rent? I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to buy at all! I don't think I'd be able to if I were starting from scratch now.

Seeing more and more anti-trans people blaming transgender people for the growing homophobia in the West. No Terfy McTerface, your gay friend isn't being called slurs on the street because of something I've done. It's because people like YOU are enabling the bigots and they are getting bolder.

When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

My own personal moron has defected next door in a boundary changing exercise. But I'm still going to cheer if they beat him! (It's looking a bit closer in St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire than it is in the new version of South Cambridgeshire, but hopefully neither will go blue).

And, as that statement says - l encourage ALL victims of Venessa, and other abusers within church structures, to come forward and seek support. That's all I ever wanted, as I pursued this case through multiple diocesan and legal structures. For other victims to be supported.

The “war on woke” is a war on multiple fronts. It aims to splinter women from LGBTQIA+, black and brown from white. Framing “women’s issues” (and that’s a phrase I loathe) as about gender identity is a “look over there” tactic to divert us from equal pay, the rollback of bodily autonomy etc.

Obviously I chose not to stop being fat, so I chose to have diabetes. I could just stop if I just tried harder. (This is so insidious that we start to subconsciously think it ourselves too sadly. i try not to).

Went for a blood test at the GP this morning. There's not many people around (many appointments are now by phone) but I'm the only person obviously in a mask. When I'm called through though the phlebotomist asks if I'd like her to wear a mask too. First time I've had that. Thanks!

Honestly this couldn’t be more important, I’ve spent heartbreaking hours trying and failing to save the life of young healthy dogs who were over-exercised on mid-to-high-20s (C) afternoons. Heatstroke can so easily kill. Please be careful.

I recall being stopped at the side of a bike path with the cargo bike, trying to fix a flat. I had the tools and the repair kit, but my rubber solution had dried up. Loads of people stopped to ask if we were OK, but none of them had a repair kit to actually help! (One did go fetch one though).
