It’s worth remembering that “lizard people” is an extreme version of antisemitism. There are people who don’t explicitly connect to Jews, and maybe they even don’t know, but the origins of conspiracy theory are 100% about us.

I often say, only semi-flippantly, that there is only one Western conspiracy theory, and it's that Jews spread the Black Death. Scratch the surface of pretty much every serious conspiracy theory and it winds up being new paint on the same blood libel structure that dates back to at least that far.
