Just shoot them: that’s the message that Texas law enforcement is getting. Now that the Texas National Guard has shot migrants with less than lethal weapons and faced no repercussions, local police plan the same. Or more—one sheriff plans to have them on hand for elections.

In 2008 I witnessed a judge tell a father that while she personally would’ve shown him favorable discretion & let him stay, the fact that his ~10 y/o and her younger brother would have to move to MX after never having lived there & give up US schooling wasn’t hardship enough. I will never forget it.

Even though parole in place leaves out millions and: immigration reform remains a painful, urgent, and seemingly impossible task, Biden's announcement is still a genuine BFD, the biggest deal since DACA. Half a million undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens, and their families are safer today.
