I’ve had pretty standard cold symptoms with maybe more fatigue than normal, and only tested myself because I was supposed to go to a barbecue where an unvaccinated infant would be there. Turns out it’s Covid and not a summer cold.

Obviously Shaw transfixes you in that scene, but the different reactions from Dreyfuss and Scheider when they hear “USS Indianapolis” is wonderful too. Dreyfuss goes from drunken giggling to completely serious: he knows what he’s about to hear. Scheider has no idea: “what happened?”

Not to be corny but I do think the ongoing aspiration to make America a pluralist democracy of equals is righteous, beautiful, and worth honoring, even if it has more often been the struggle of minorities & dissenters than the policy of the government. 🇺🇸
