After the festival I needed an adult beverage. Went to the Wild Colonial because it’s open late and I can be away from people. Somehow met an artist that wanted to draw more vampire characters but couldn’t think of any. It was like my whole life had suddenly come to its ultimate purpose. 🦇

Last night someone told me that they “heard on NPR” that “Bill Gates is close to solving the energy problem with AI.” Dude, it took 40+ years to pass the Food and Drug Act that says they can’t put boric acid in milk. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 No city is installing the Bill Gates magic mini reactors in this century.

Next level: turn on the find my phone broadcast to certain people feature for your parents. (I forget the exact terminology). It really helps sometimes. Not just because of elderly/senile issues. But because elderly people are less apt to checkin with their loved ones. And go for “a drive.”

Complicated family conversation hack: Use different social app’s messengers to silo conversations. Example: I have a family text chat. And I have a smaller group real talk about family instagram chat. Also: learn your parents’ phone codes and install your thumb/face on their computer gone.

I’ve decided The Martian is a perfect July 4 movie. It’s a perfect “fuck yeah the human spirit will never die” movie that isn’t about patriotism. Even tho it’s clearly centered around Thanksgiving. I don’t care. I watch Addams Family 2 on Thanksgiving, like the lord intended.

Some advice for folks getting into/ currently making webcomics: You don't have to draw a background for every panel! Sometimes it can be overwhelming and shadow the emotion you're trying to convey in your story. Make sure you have at least an establishing shot to ground the characters though!

My biggest takeaway from a bunch years of religious private school (preschool at 4 to 6th grade) is that Jesus had it right. Traveling all day with your homies and then sitting down and washing your feet at the end of the day is a top tier pleasure. It doesn’t need to involve another person.
