Learned it from my dad. He would just start hitting random numbers when they called the landline. His logic was "they're annoying me, so I'll annoy them back by messing with their data."

To grade separate would require the entire 100+ mile route to be elevated. Also the trains are most doing 79mph max where most of the level crossings are.

Tbf, there is are systemic issues in FL. Not with the trains but with the stroad hell that is Floridian roads. There are a lot of intersections with the level crossing running through them, it can't all be blamed on bad drivers

AC in cars does use a little bit of power from the engine so it does burn a bit more fuel but compared to driving to the fuel to move a ford explorer it's barely anything

I'll have you know my business major roommate last year refused to turn on the heat until it was in the 30s outside and then only to 60 degrees during the day and 55 at night.

Going fare free is a good long term goal, but it requires improving service to a level that enough people choose to take transit over driving. Local politics revolve around the people with the time and energy to show up to meetings, so you have to get those people on transit

I agree, but it's a question of how do you do it. For most mid to large cities in the US fares cover 20-30% of their operation expenses. If you get rid of fares tomorrow either you cut service or find new tax money. If you can find that tax money it would be better spent increasing service.

Thanks, I had a bad feeling about getting called into a meeting with HR. So I recorded it on my phone in my pocket, got them on tape saying they were firing me for talking to the UAW. They also fired other people, so it's turned into a whole big thing.
