The tweet you quote mentions lobbying $$$—AIPAC but also military contractors, which never get mentioned but seem like a big piece of the puzzle because they spend way more money on lobbying than AIPAC.

Can someone explain to me, in geopolitical terms, why this is being allowed to happen? Why won’t any Western countries stand up to Israel?

The discourse around biden needing more sleep is fully insane. Does no one remember "Executive Time," the thing Trump spent the majority(!) of his schedule on where he would just watch TV and tweet? Dude was categorically unable to fulfill any of the demands of the office and the press barely cared

I mean, how does Biden have his *worst* day at his highest-stakes event yet?

This might be a crazy thing to ask/suggest, but is it possible Biden’s team did in fact give him something intended to make him more alert/sharp/aggressive (as the Trumpies had claimed they would), and it had the opposite effect (as these drugs sometimes do)? Because this is all just so weird.

Reforming the media is crucial to reforming the political situation. What can anyone do when the paper of record™️ is in the tank for the fascist candidate?

And it’s uncommonly dangerous when the NYT is in the tank for Trump.

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

“Otherwise” literally, etymologically, means “other way.” So, yeah, it extends the prohibition to anyone who in any OTHER WAY obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so.

Ok, I need everybody to read Section III-A of Alito's dissent in the Idaho abortion case. He says - explicitly and specifically - that in cases where the amniotic sac breaks before the 24th week of pregnancy, abortions should be prohibited. HE SPECIFICALLY NOTES THE DANGERS. He points out that...

This also reminded me of a GE commercial from (I guess) the 1990s that used to play during the Sunday morning news programs, which showed all the uses of electricity and ended with a baseball stadium being lit up at night. It was heroic, with a male (obvs) voiceover, and it brought tears to my eyes.

I have a question. Everyone talks about AIPAC, but the defense industry spends much more on lobbying, right? And they make soooo much money from Israel.

The donor class is pretty much the same in visual art, film, and theater—wealthy liberals who are often Jewish—but the progressive politics of the artists in each area are visual arts > film > theater.

Years ago, before the actual car made it onto the streets, I got my son a Hot Wheels cybertruck. I held onto it for a future “reward,” forgot all about it, and now I’m not sure I should ever give it to him. Unless I tell him it’s a bad guy car—he’s great at bashing his toys into smithereens.

Any climate activists abandoning Biden now are engaging in some one of the most foolish acts of political self-destruction I've ever witnessed. It's by far his greatest achievement, in a context where very few other politicians have made more than a cursory attempt to pass meaningful policy
