Yet again our government bows down to the gun nuts and provides an easier way for people to be murdered efficiently. It's almost like they want mass shootings.

You're not allowed to own automatic weapons without a pretty restrictive license, except if you turn your semiauto into an automatic, that's perfectly fine and not sidestepping the law in an obvious and preventable way that led to and will lead to predictable harms to the lives of normal people.

A majority of SCOTUS missed the fact that the Second Amendment was written before there were bullets (1791). Everything fired until 1841 was a single lead ball in a front-loading musket. The "originalists" on the bench make the words "originalist" a farce and "situational ethics" a reality.

Leave it to #SCOTUS to fuck up the ONE almost-decent thing that Trump ever did during his four year reign of terror.

The only purpose of bump stocks is to provide a wildly inaccurate means of automatic fire from semi-automatic weapons. If you want to shoot a machine gun for fun, you can buy one, or visit a range where they are available. There's just no need for and no good done with these things.

Remember that bigass mass shooting in Vegas? 1000 shots fired into a crowd in 10 minutes? 100 shots per minute is not machine gun territory according to the U.S. Supreme Court. Amazing.

Odd how they invoke originalism and creative new rulings based on fictional arguments when they want to, but get hung up on the strict language when they choose otherwise.

Wikipedia on the 2017 LV Shooting: "He fired more than 1,000 rounds, killing 60 people[a] and wounding at least 413. The ensuing panic brought the total number of injured to approximately 867." Shooter never could have had numbers like that without the help of a bump stock. It's basically full auto

Lame. These were banned after a 2017 mass shooting in Vegas that killed 60 people. Either we should allow automatic weapons or we shouldn't. But what we definitely should not do is allow "automatic-ish" weapons.

This very political court is following a GOP strategy of stripping federal regulatory agencies of their authority. Congress will starve those same agencies of funding, and if Trump gets back in, he'll disband them all together.

At some point we need to get a clear understanding of the 2nd Amendment. Jefferson banned firearms at UVA so it wasn't intended to be an unlimited personal right. And a bump stock is non essential gun accessory, so I don't know if it is covered by Constitutional protections.

Thomas asserts bump stocks don't convert semi-auto into machine guns. That flies in the face of why bump stocks were created and were ever popular in the first place: That they converted semi-auto into MACHINE GUNS. And got around the law doing it. Otherwise gun nuts would've been "meh".
