I need to write the whole piece about this, but the thing to understand is that the NYT is now just Facebook. The platform dictates narrative to normies, is totally gamed by the right, and is still so ubiquitous as to be unavoidable even by those who see how broken it is. It's just Facebook.

Really cannot emphasize enough the emotional benefit of picking a spot where you can have an outsize impact and digging in to really work on it in addition to your other efforts. My contributions to protecting anonymity online have been SUCH a motivator for avoiding despair.

Part of how we got here has been to leave too much of the discussion about all of this to lawyers. People feel like they can't understand the courts without law degrees and that's just not true. But we're left without a robust group of non-lawyer activists and organizers who could offer leadership.

I’m sorry but it is just not true that later abortions are forced in any way. Often hard circumstances, yes. But patients move mountains to access care they know they need. I’m not interested in erasing our agency OR the unjust barriers we have to navigate to access care.

A nuance here that I wish we’d talk about more is that exceptions to 24wk bans work about as well as exceptions to 6wk bans- they’re both PR for abortion bans! And they’re useful across party lines.

I had a chance to speak with some student organizers today and of course they absolutely blew me away with their knowledge, compassion and moral clarity. I definitely left having learned more from them than what I imparted. I left the conversation fortified and encouraged.
