People are like "there's no point in posting it doesn't make a difference to anything," 8 years after Donald Trump posted his way to the presidency of the United States

So do we think the NYT will officially endorse Donald Trump if Biden doesn't step down? They've endorsed someone every election for as long as I remember. So even staying neutral would be in essence a nod to Trump.

I just looked at yours, it's pretty good! I do try to ask myself, if I were blind or had low vision, what would I want to know about this picture? What would I not be able to figure out that would be cool to know?

It was really hard for me for a long time because I was struggling to make voice to text work, but I sold my soul to the Google version that uses AI, and it works a lot better. Damn I hate to admit that. So now I just talk it out and then do a quick proofread, much easier.

The entire point of this bill is to play on people’s ignorance. So Musk is either a participant in that project or he somehow didn’t study for or get this question.

I am not 100% convinced he understands American civics, though he seems to have passed the exam for citizenship.

This week on the blog! This year's now customary July 4th-week post is on the philosophy of the American founding, liberalism (in the 'liberty' sense of the word) - what it is, where it comes from and its impressive track record.

I share the outrage about the media hyperfocusing on Biden while all but ignoring that Trump is a demented fascist fuckwit.
The question is, what are we going to do about it? Can it be stopped? If not, what then? How do we get this ship turned around?

Omg It's nearly 9:00 p.m., dusk but not dark, and it's actually cool. I'm comfortable in a T-shirt but I could put on a hoodie and be okay. This is the coolest I have been in about 3 days.

Rare event! Competing heat domes in the Southeast and Southwest US crank out two huge all-time record highs. Palm Springs 124 and Raleigh=Durham 106 with a heat index of 118!
Las Vegas is forecast to break their all-time high this weekend and even Death Valley may come close.

There are many things that infuriate me about the pundit class right now, but probably one of the top on my list:
Project 2025 has posted their plans for every single federal department on their website. They have a training academy for prospective appointees.
Where are the hard hitting op-eds?

Some of us would *love* to have an opportunity to ask just *one* goddamn policy question to the President, y'know? I have so many of them! But I guess I'm a policy wonk nerd and George is too important for that bullshit.

Infrastructure is going to need beefing up if we're going to deal with climate change.
Is that on the Project 2025 agenda?

I think this is true but also we tend to think of Jim Crow as “separate water fountains” rather than “white supremicist death squads and one party rule ,” but it had both!

Americans have a real problem with older people and the concept of aging. The culture is rife with ageism.
It’s going to official bite us in the ass if we don’t address it. Wow.

We saw a nice dose of this in the US during the height of the pandemic when people didn’t care if the elders died. How they are useless, vapid and have no purpose, by definition. “Get out of the way, make room for me, a younger person”. Our elders!
Remember?? I do.
