I do captioning for a living, & a big part of my job is cleaning up false starts & filler words. That has always been the norm at every media outlet. Print media edits Trump so carefully that you would never know what he actually sounds like. Doing this to Biden is a 180 from decades of policy.

For me it’s not that I’m either ok or not ok with Biden as a candidate it’s that my brain cannot rationalize that the media has so uniformly freaked out about him while remaining comparatively serene about all the other far worse stuff in the past two weeks.

Regular reminder (no one reads me but I’m still self-conscious abt repeating myself) atmospheric CO2 for the next century (& only that, ideally) is a stock not a flow problem. A leak followed by a gradual reduction is a fucking DISASTER that we now have a pathway to avert.

It was really hard for me for a long time because I was struggling to make voice to text work, but I sold my soul to the Google version that uses AI, and it works a lot better. Damn I hate to admit that. So now I just talk it out and then do a quick proofread, much easier.

Rare event! Competing heat domes in the Southeast and Southwest US crank out two huge all-time record highs. Palm Springs 124 and Raleigh=Durham 106 with a heat index of 118! Las Vegas is forecast to break their all-time high this weekend and even Death Valley may come close.

We saw a nice dose of this in the US during the height of the pandemic when people didn’t care if the elders died. How they are useless, vapid and have no purpose, by definition. “Get out of the way, make room for me, a younger person”. Our elders! Remember?? I do.
