When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

Oh and if I see anyone saying "It doesn't matter how you vote, just vote" I will whack them up the bracket, see if I don't. Vote out the Tories or stay home.

I'm in an SNP/Lab marginal. I prefer SGP but I'll vote SNP because they're better than Labour & my guy isn't transphobic. Sure I'd prefer Green, but the most a Green vote will do here is increase the accuracy of the sample—and if that was my priority, I'd write in "Automated luxury queer communism".

I hate the phrase "tactical voting". A Tory supporter voting Tory in a safe Tory seat is a 'tactic' too, just a very easy one.
The problem is that we have a tactical *voting system*.

I'm willing to listen more, but most Scots indy-supporting trans folks' opinions I've seen have been "vote SNP unless your local candidate is a wrong'un" so I'm planning on voting for Tommy Sheppard tomorrow, and saving my Green votes for Holyrood & councils where it's not (only) a protest

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

dammit there are no antidepressants that rhyme with "Mr Miserable" and the best I can do for Mr Worry is a contrived pronunciation of "s-s-R-i"

UK pals: hate Tories? like trains? Vote accordingly!
Fun fact: the first person killed by a passenger train was a Tory MP in 1830, movingly portrayed by Whose Line's Mike McShane (ikr!) in the @midnightpals.bsky.social story podcast (~13 min into ep 4)

Does anyone know, with the UK election, whether you can still hand in a postal ballot at the polling station on election day? And if so, whether someone else can do it for you, and if so, whether they need ID, and if so, whose?

I watched this, and I need everyone to know something:
In the group shown anti-Conservative propaganda, two *still opted to vote Conservative* over Labour
Everyone in the other group voted Conservative
Social media is not real life. Do NOT take next week’s #GeneralElection result for granted

We're all familiar with @midnightpals.bsky.social - like Weird Al, getting parodied by the Midnight Pals means you Made It as a horror writer - but Bitter Karella is also a terrific horror writer in his own right! Her new novelette is available for preorder from Tenebrous Press right now!
