Also the victims themselves rarely know ahead of time that they're dealing with a predator. Once you know the truth, act on it, but assuming "everyone" knew and that anyone who didn't know is culpable is itself a form of victim blaming. Because guess who didn't know?

Sometimes the audacity of a magazine really makes me laugh. It's very reasonable for a market to not accept simultaneous submissions. It's very reasonable for a market to not accept reprints. It is BALLSY AS HELL to have those stipulations and then only pay $0.01 per word.

GOT for me has some really fascinating parallels to the Harry Potter series because it was obvious in realtime the exact point where the people serving as guardrails saving the thing from itself simply let go and in retrospect it's like 100X more obvious
