In case folks missed it! Thereās so much health info you canāt get from genetic testing, and when I helped my cousin piece things together via AncestryDNA she got access to info from her biological parents that was potentially life-saving down the line. Hopefully this helps others.

It's been my expressed view since 2016 that debating Trump is a category mistake. It treats him like a legitimate candidate whose words bear some relationship to his actual views and to empirical reality, and that's too much to concede to him. It gives away the game before the first pitch.

So many states are like that! Under current MN law (until July 1) the costs end up around there too. And if one consents and the other vetoes then they redact. In many states the vetoes can last even beyond death of the birth parent!

Opposition to this basic right for adoptees has often been frustrating and demoralizing. The coalition weathered delays, flipped votes, and āweāll do it next yearā claims, and even a veto of a passed bill in 2008, but they kept steadfast. Always with urgency for our community.

The bill to make this equality-driven change was first introduced in 1996. I was 3rd grader at the timeāthatās how long a coalition of adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents have been fighting for equal access to this information.

Minnesota was the 15th state to pass equal access to original birth certificates.
Before that, our birth certificates were kept confidential, even from us, without express permission from biological parents.

Last year the legislature passed a law granting adopted adults access to our own birth records.

just remember trump won't read your jokes about him, unless, as we recently found out, you get jury selected on one of his other trials, in which case they might actually be read out to him to his face, so, y'know, go for it

As it turns out, insurance companies in the US are not motivated to improve public health.
