I sure hope all the Dems calling for Biden to step aside have gamed out the fuckery that the Heritage Foundation is planning

It seems impossible that they haven’t considered this given everything, yet I really don’t think they have.

Fair. But I do also hope with little evidence that Biden has gamed out the fuckery that the Heritage Foundation is planning.

You're making the assumption Biden will live 'til November, which I have to say is pretty bold of you. I wouldn't be so sure, even if he does make it 'til November I doubt there'll be much left in the tank for him by then.

President Biden cannot flinch. Remember Bush’s team already moved “as if” before the Bush v Gore verdict? If there is one hint that Trump reaches 270 on election night, Trump will make a move. Not respecting any delay until swearing in. Biden needs to be in full, undoubted command at that time.

The game plan is to drop him before the convention.

Yes of course we have. This isn't a fucking game. No one is out to get him, he is just simply unfit and it's delusional to think you could cover that up for an entire campaign. As long as the new nominee is chosen before the convention, nothing whatsoever changes.

at this point my gut is saying he stays, gets to be nominee, then quits right after the convention but as you say, this needs experts in state law from every state to game it out

It doesn’t matter who runs as the Democrat. GOP states will contest the vote count (if the Dem wins), claim fraud, select fake electors, take it to the Supreme Court and they’ll give them the win. Face it folks, it’s all over. The November election has already been decided. Democracy is dead.

Granted, but OTOH, no one should make *any* decisions based on "will Heritage engage in fuckery?", given that the answer is always "yes."

This isn't new. There are red states who have been looking for ways to remove Biden from the ballot. We need unified federal election laws. Otherwise, red states will find ways to remove anyone but MAGAs from the ballot.

I don’t understand “the deadline for getting on the ballot has already passed” / “Biden isn’t on the general election ballot yet because he isn’t the official Democratic nominee” ... aren’t those two statements saying different things?

There's already at least one GOP-run state where the deadline for getting on the ballot is before the major party conventions and they're claiming they can keep Biden off their ballot. (The Libertarian Party used to do conventions the year before elections bc of ballot access issues for 3rd parties)

I’m having trouble with the premise of this potential challenge to anyone-but-Biden being on the ballot for the simple reason that Biden is, so far, only the presumptive nominee. The DNC moved up the nomination to get under the Ohio deadline, but there’s still a month to go, so what’s the problem?

Yeah it's too late which is why when Trump wins you should blame every fucking idiot who let Biden run for a second term.

"In some states the process for replacing a candidate isn't clear" Don't candidates die before election day all the time? How is this a situation there aren't laws about?
